Art walk your way to learning more about the future of transit in the region
Tomorrow, September 2nd, a new transportation-themed exhibit, "Transportation Today and Tomorrow: Envisioning a Greater Richmond," opens at UR Downtown. On hand to talk through the exhibit will be Trip Pollard of the Southern Environmental Law Center and Bonner Scholar Emily Onufer.
The exhibition offers quotes and other thoughts from numerous community leaders, cyclists, and transit riders in the Richmond region about their vision of transportation in Richmond and how that vision would impact the city and people’s lives.
Well, this is right up our alley! It's definitely encouraging to see people working towards a vision of truly regional transportation. In fact, a bunch of state-level folks are hard at work finalizing the Richmond Regional Transit Vision Plan, which should drop this fall. It's an incredibly exciting plan, and, if it's close to the draft version (PDF), would involve BRTs crisscrossing the region on each of our major corridors.
You can check out the UR Downtown exhibit from 5:00–7:00 PM during tomorrow's First Friday art walk, or just any old Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM–5:00 PM until January 13th, 2017.
